Online systems have been plagued by logistical and security issues. Recently, Pennsylvania bar applicants, like many others, have faced possible theft of their personal information upon downloading the ExamSoft program, known as Examplify, to take the exam. This comes as no surprise as private companies, public and private school systems, financial institutions, and government agencies have suffered the same fate throughout decades of internet use despite attempts to create impregnable online security systems. Data breaches have affected millions of users.

Examplify is slated to be utilized in 22 jurisdictions to administer upcoming bar exams. Applicants have received alerts from banks and internet browsers advising them that their online accounts have been targeted.
