A lawyer who wants to promote her firm with a non-state issued novelty license plate on the front of her car does not need to comply with the North Carolina lawyer advertising regulation that requires the use of an office address on attorney advertisements. Click here to read the opinion.

Last month, the New Jersey Supreme Court joined more than forty other states when it unanimously decided that it would amend its ethics rules to allow law firms to use trade names when accompanied by a lawyer’s name.
